Design and Engineering
The company offers a multi disciplinary approach to projects, drawing on specialists from other sectors to ensure the success of every project we run. And, with company services spanning the range of all civil engineering disciplines, provides its infrastructure and transport customers with every service they need for a successful project of any size.
Design-Build projects have some unique characteristics of their own that have the potential to increase project risk. On design-build projects, there is a shift in responsibility for the quality of the work, including the development of final requirements and specifications, away from the agency and towards the contractor. The design is initiated by one firm, but completed by another: this handoff increases the potential for misinterpreted requirements or incomplete incorporation of requirements. Internal integration is much more complex, as the work is broken down into much smaller packages to enable a more continuous construction effort.
Design of MEP works
Large, high spaces and fully-glazed facades are common challenges posed by terminal building designs. These spaces require special attention from our HVAC engineers in order to provide comfort and functionality in an energy-efficient and cost-effective manner. We have developed and delivered innovative solutions for terminal buildings of all sizes in various climates. This includes safe supplies of drinking water, as well as sustainable solutions for the treatment and re-use of wastewater and rainwater.
Our extensive knowledge of building physics enables us to cooperate with architects from the very start of a project.
Coordinated layout
The design community must work closely with building owners and operators to ensure that the optimal balance of all the above considerations is achieved; thus, coordination within the design team is critical. Many asset protection objectives can be achieved during the early stages of the design process when mitigation is the least costly and most easily implemented. Planners, architects, and landscape designers play an important role in identifying and implementing crucial asset protection measures while considering land use; site selection.
Current and planned infrastructure and its vulnerabilities, including easements, tunnels, pipes, and rights-of-way.
